Malware is an acronym for malicious software. Malicious means harmful, so malware means a program which is harmful for different devices like mobile and computer. Due to your negligence, it may be infiltrated into your computer and make the computer slow down, even it can destroy the hard disk.
There are several types of malware. I have discussed about some dangerous malware here.
1. Virus
Almost all of us have heard of this malware. A computer virus is a malicious program that when executed, replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. When this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be infected with a computer virus. Some computer viruses are programmed to harm your computer by damaging programs, deleting files, or reformatting the hard drive. Others simply replicate themselves or flood a network with traffic, making it impossible to perform any internet activity. Even less harmful computer viruses can significantly disrupt your system’s performance, sapping computer memory and causing frequent computer crashes.2. Worm
A computer worm is a standalone malware computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. Worms infects other systems by making multiple copies of itself and spreading itself onto other computers within the network. Computer worms exploit certain parts of the operating system that are not visible to the user. The infection is only noticed when the system consumes most of the resources due to the worm’s uncontrolled replication. This in turn slows and stops the performance of other services in the computer’s operating system.3. Trojan
Trojan malware is named from the Trojan Horse. Trojan is the most clever type of malware. Because it can access your computer in disguise. It is a type of software that is camouflaged in the form of regular software such as utilities, games and sometimes even antivirus programs. Once it runs on the computer, it causes problems like killing background system processes, deleting hard drive data and corrupting file allocation systems. Mostly Trojans are introduced via email attachments. These emails are disguised in a way that they look authentic. Once the user downloads the attached file and runs it, the file starts corrupting the system.4. Adware
Adware is known as one of the most annoying malware of the present day. It's automatically displays advertisements online to generate revenue for its author. Advertisements may appear in the user interface of the software, onscreen during the installation process, or in a browser. While adware is not always dangerous, in some cases it may be designed to analyze the internet sites visited, present advertising content, install additional programs, and redirect your browser to unsafe sites.5. Spyware
Spyware is malicious software code that runs secretly on a computer, gathers information about the user and their browsing habits, and then transmits that information back to a remote entity. Rather than disrupting a device's operations, spyware targets sensitive information and can grant remote access to hackers. It can monitor and copy everything you enter, upload, download, and store. Some strains of spyware are also capable of activating cameras and microphones to watch and listen to you undetected. Spyware can infect any device and give hackers full access to sensitive information such as your passwords, banking details, or your entire digital identity.If you want to keep your computer malware free, you need to use a good anti-virus or anti-malware software.
